Revenge in The Count of Monte Cristo

Vengeance in The Count of Monte Cristo

Is vengeance unjustifiable or do 2 wrongs make a right? Should the men that triggered Edmond Dantes life too spiral downhill be gotten back or left alone? Three men caused Edmond Dantes to go to prison due to the fact that they were envious of him due to the fact that of what he had. When Dantes is launched from prison he seeks vengeance on the people that made his life spiral and made him lose whatever he had. Those 3 guys are Danglers, Fernand, and Caderousse. He achieves success in his vengeance and wanted the guys to truly repent for what they did too him. Dantes uses vengeance as a remedy for his unhappiness.
Danglers is a naturally wicked male. “Let us leave Danglers, had by the demon of hatred and attempting to breathe some wicked insinuation versus his associate into the ship owner’s ear” (Dumas 7). Danglers just does not care if he injures someone it’s all about him. His greed exceeds even that of a king or dictator. “Oh, yes, I repent! I repent!” (Dumas 522). Danglers shows that he regrets his actions and the things he did. It took him so many years to finally recognize what he did and to truly regret what he did to Dantes. He did all of the important things he did to Dantes all due to the fact that he was jealous he had money, a great life on the way, and was going to be the captain of the Pharaon.
Fernand was so deeply jealous of Dantes he could not see directly. “It doesn’t matter, though; in the meantime, a minimum of, he’ll wed the lovely Mercedes!” (Dumas 15). This shows how deeply he liked Mercedes. Fernand must have never ever attempted to take Mercedes from Dantes, due to the fact that they explained real love. Caderousse was captured in between two paths and picked the incorrect method. “They ‘d provided me a lot to drink that I opposed as much as I had the ability to in that state, but they informed me the entire thing was only a joke.” (Dumas 104). Caderousse should have said something the next day when they apprehended Dantes. Caderousse ought to have stated no to all of the beverages and then possibly he might have stopped it. “A man who implicates himself like that deserves to be forgiven.” (Dumas 105). Caderousse is sort of forgiven without understanding it. He truly did regret what he did and took it to heart. Caderousse could have changed the whole circumstance and stopped the insanity that happened just if he would have said something.
In conclusion, the term revenge has several significances. If you picked to try to describe or specify the word you would base it off of what you have actually been through. People think that revenge is good and bad either way it’s a double sided sword so you might as well simply leave revenge alone because almost whenever something bad happens or someone or something gets hurt. So even in your darkest days or saddest hours your antidote for the discomfort should never ever be that of revenge.
