George Orwell’s anti-utopian unique 1984 paints a picture of a society in which the individual has no flexibility, hope, or feeling. Three super states called Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia, divide and wreck the earth with continuous war in between them. The story takes place in Oceania, which includes the Americas along with Fantastic Brittan. Nineteen-eighty Four chronicles Winston Smith’s struggle to fight against the forever-reining, oppressive social system called the Celebration. Throughout 1984 a number of central themes through which the Party manages its members unfold– the very first style is dehumanization, the 2nd theme is advancement of privacy, and third theme is subtle erosions of liberty.
Dehumanization, which plainly administers as the primary style in Orwell’s novel, takes place as the first theme. The ways in which the Celebration dehumanizes the people are the perversion of sex, the destruction of the household, and the removal of human feelings. Big Bro dislikes sex. The Inner Party and Big Brother fear sex since sex triggers extreme feeling.

Julia, Winston’s adulteress, views oppose Katharine’s views in all methods possible. She desires sex as a type of rebellion and does not take anything the Celebration says for fact. Winston explains her as “a rebel from the waist downwards” due to her passiveness concerning Celebration scenarios (Orwell 156). Secondly, the destruction of family worths also causes the dehumanization of the people. By moving loyalties from the household to Big Brother, the Celebration succeeds in ruining the family. Couples do not even feel love towards each other anymore. Destroying all emotional connections between relative centralizes as one of the Party’s goals. In the Parsons’ house lies a vision of how the Party wants the family to act. Mr. Parsons, a Party drone, mutters down with Huge Sibling in his sleep and his daughter betrays him to the thought-police.
While being carried off, he really states that he feels proud of her for denouncing him. There will be no Love except the love of Huge Bro” (Orwell 267). The Party wants to have a governed body of no feelings, thoughts, or feelings, for one who does not have any of these is one that will be easily managed.
Infringement of personal privacy occurs as the second theme in 1984. Keeping power in the hands of Celebration needs constant surveillance of its members in order to keep them in consult fears of thought-crime. They keep a close eye on everyone with a device called a telescreen. The telescreen at the same time transmits propaganda and records all of the activities within its vision. It can never be shut off, just refused, and it can be found in all the homes of party members as well as all public locations. It says in Goldstein’s book that “With the advancement of television, and the technical advance that made it possible to receive and send concurrently on the same instrument, private life concerned an end,” (Orwell 206). The telescreen keeps Big Brother in control. Without continuous security, individuals would feel no outdoors pressure to act in an orthodox way.
In “Bye-bye, Big Brother” Peter Huber composes, “Without the telescreen there can be no Huge Brother, or a minimum of none rather so totalitarian as Orwell envisioned” (2 ). For remote areas such as forests and mountains, the party puts sound recording devices to make sure no location goes unmonitored. The party likewise puts a social preconception on personal privacy. In Newspeak, the main language of Oceania, the word for personal privacy is “ownlife” (Orwell 84). Doublethink happens in the Celebration’s slogan “War is Peace, Liberty is Slavery, and Lack Of Knowledge is Strength” (Orwell 16).
How could war perhaps be peace or liberty be slavery? It can just be true if one believes that war is peace and by doing so contradicting reasoning. The waging of perpetual war also subtracts from peoples’ flexibilities. When a populace is taken part in war, the population tends to quit freedoms for security. Peter Huber writes, “Till recently there was only one efficient method for many people to cooperate, and that was to surrender their freedoms … Details took a trip one method only, from the rulers to the ruled” (2) By waging continuous war and only sharing inclined info the Party keeps its citizens at bay with fear of being overrun by another nation.

These are all things that can be avoided by acting now. While O’Brien is speaking to Winston in the Ministry of Love, he states, “If you desire an image of the future, envision a boot marking on a human face permanently,” (Orwell 267). Although this quote exaggerates how things are choosing us at present, it offers us a concept of how it might be. Orwell’s message to us is to take control of our freedom and to abuse it to the fullest.
