Loneliness in Of Mice and Men
Loneliness is a kind of sadness since one has no good friends or company. In “Of Mice and Guy” by John Steinbeck, there are tons of lonely characters. The loneliest characters are Crooks, Candy, and Curley’s Better half. The uttermost companionless character is Crooks, because all of the cattle ranch workers keep away from him since he is black. The second most lonesome character in the novel is Candy due to his lack of family, and his canine got put down. The 3rd turned down character is Curley’s partner because she is the only lady near the cattle ranch and she has no one ready to talk to her.
The reason Crooks is the loneliest character is due to the fact that of his skin color. Since Crooks is black, the white males on the ranch are actually racist to him. They do not let him oversleep the bunkhouse or play cards with them because he’s a, “Nigger.” Crooks has no good friends or household, therefore he checks out since he can’t socialize with anyone and has absolutely nothing much better to do. He is a complete outcast, and is shut out by society.
The 2nd most desolate character is Candy due to the fact that he has no good friends or household left. Sweet can’t be close with the guys now. He has limited social and work contact with the other men because he was lowered to the function of a swamper due to his age. Furthermore, Sweet had only one good friend left in the world, his dog. Then his dog was put down. Nevertheless, Sweet is not as lonely as Scoundrels due to the fact that he is not an outcast.
Curley’s wife is the third most declined character. Curley’s spouse is lonesome since she has no genuine good friends. In the beginning Curley’s spouse may not look so singular since she is so flirty however that shows how companionless she really is. Considering that she requires someone to socialize with, “Talkin to a lot of bindle stiffs a nigger an’ a dum an a lousy ol’ sheep and likin’ it because they ain’t nobody else.” The quote shows she is desperate and will talk with anyone. She has a hubby however she mentions, “Sure I got a husban’. You all seen him. Swell guy ain’t he? Spends all his time sayin’ what he’s gon na do to guys he do not like.”This reveals that she hates Curley and isn’t happy with him. Curley’s spouse is likewise the only woman near the ranch and wish for friendship. She tries to get buddies but the guys do not want to talk to her due to the fact that they are all frightened of what Curley will do.
I conclude by stating that Crooks, Sweet, and Curley’s partner are the leading three loneliest characters in “Of Mice and Guy”. Scoundrels is the most rejected character since he has no one at all. Sweet is the second loneliest character because he has no household, but he has some good friends at the cattle ranch and is not cast aside as Crooks is. Curley’s better half is the third most friendless character because she has family but no buddies and desperate adequate to flirt with anybody.
